Bree was only the second Irish player to be directly recruited to a D1 college in the US. The Sligo hot shot wowed the US scouts with his MVP winning performances for the Irish Junior Men in the European Championships in 1997, earning him a call up to the prestigious Nike camp for the most talented players in Europe. Davidson came calling after that and Bree was North Carolina bound. He has just finished the third full year of his scholarship and will start next season as a Senior. He has played at Cadet, Junior and Senior level for Ireland and won the "ESB International Player of the Year Award" back in 1998. He Picked up a nasty ligament injury in the final game of the European Championships which kept him out of action all summer.  He also missed the start of the NCAA season, but he returned in December for the "Wildcats" and finally returned to form just before the end of the regular season.
