Waterford Crystal sewed up the ESB Men’s Superleague in a high scoring 102-128 victory over Notre Dame.  After weeks of being so close to title collection, Waterford ended the glint of hope left in the Tralee camp and will be presented with the League trophy at their last home game next weekend.

Big Al’s managed to stay in touch in the opening quarter with outstanding performances from Gorman, Singleton and Keohane, making it difficult for the home team.  Waterford led 50-77 at the end of the first quarter.

Things got a lot tougher for Big Al’s in the second half when some superb shooting from James
Singleton led Waterford to a 50-77 lead at half time.  The contest was well and truly up at this
stage, as well as a 27-point lead, Big Al’s stalwart, Anthony Jenkins had picked up his fourth
personal foul.

Jenkins fouled out toward the end of the third quarter and the young Dublin squad did well to limit
the damage to 26-points at the final whistle.  With the title under their belts, the Waterford team
finished the game with a second glory; Singleton breaking the club’s high scoring record of 49
points, by finishing the game with a 3-pointer for a new Waterford record, on 51 points.

The defeat was a double blow for Big Al’s who are now unlikely to make it to the National
Tournament.

Neptune v Hibernian UCD Marian
At the last Home game of the season Neptune were quick out of the blocks, and with 3.40 left in the first quarter lead 16-8. A couple of threes from Gary Edge brought Marian back to within a basket midway through but a solid quarter on the offensive boards from Kieran O’Brien extended Neptune's lead again as the quarter ended.

O'Brien's good form continued in the second quarter and two boards along with two blocked shots had Neptune off at the races and with 5.00 left in the half they lead 34-20. The trend continued as the half ended 44-33 to Neptune with O'Brien on 16 points.

The start of the second saw Marcus Walley on the floor for the first time since Christmas. Marian
failed to make any impression in this quarter as Neptune extended their lead to 21 points 70-49.

The trend continued for the last quarter as Neptune ran out comfortable winners 88-66. Man of the
Match Kieran O'Brien, 22 points, 11 boards and 3 blocks.

Sx3 Star v Esat Business Demons
Star increased their chances of making it to the top 8 with an important victory over Esat Business
Demons on Sunday.  Star and UCD Marian will now battle it out for the last remaining position in
National Tournament.

Demons opened up an early lead and took the first quarter 17-22, before Sx3 Star came back to level the game at half time (40-40).  Midway through the third quarter Star took a 63-57 lead and never gave it up, taking the game 84-80.  Star were without Gareth Maguire for the clash and without him, did well to control the Cork team on court.
After missing the last few weeks with injury, Mike Beckles was back with Demons this weekend, but it appears that the American forward is still not back to full fitness after two average performances this weekend.

Burger King Limerick v Frosties Tigers
In a game of overzealous refereeing, Tralee Tigers came back from a 52-36 trail at half time to
secure second position in the Superleague table.  Tralee worked hard in the third quarter and
reduced the deficit to 7-points (76-65) before levelling the game at 87 apiece at full time.
Limerick had six players fouled out of the game by extra-time, including Matt Hall, Tommy Walsh and BJ McFarland.  The Cup champions picked up 19 fouls between the final quarter and extra time Ricardo Leonard and Michael Quirke fouled out for Tralee in extra time.
