Bullets silence Canaries song

FIBA Champions Cup
Birmingham Bulets 76 (19,40,56) (Bucknall 24, Jackson 15, Rolston 13)
Tenerife (ESP) 75 (Toledo 15, Hamilton 13, Sanchez 11)

Birmingham Bullets sealed a dramatic 76-75 victory over Tenerife of Spain in the dying seconds of their FIBA Champion's Cup match to move to 2-1 in the group stages.

Steve Bucknall, who top-scored with 24 points and five assists, netted a three pointer 14 seconds from time to secure the win.

Tenerife weren’t able to score a single field goal over a six minute stretch at the start of the final period.

Yet after 35 minutes of tight action, a 9-0 spurt had the Spaniards 72-67 ahead. But Richard Windle and Sullivan Phillips drew Bullets close to allow Bucknall to win it.

“I felt we played in spurts and may have been a little lucky,” said Tony Garbelotto, “but throughout our defence was tough.”

Michael Jackson got 15 points, including eight-of-eight from the line, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks in another impressive showing.

Elsewhere, Mons won at Oliveirense 90-78.
