Bullets dominated the first half and led 42-33 at the interval. But some good shooting from Carlos Seixas saw Oliveirense take a five point lead into the final quarter.
However the hosts were soon back on terms thanks to Michael Jackson, before seven unanswered points gave Birmingham a 76-71 lead they would never lose.
Kyle Rolston top scored with 27 points, whilst Kevin Veldhuizen led the Portuguese side with 22.
In the same group, Tenerife left Switzerland with a valuable 79-69 win over Fribourg while Dijon defeated Mons 75-60
