Rhondda 47 Smyrnaiou 17Rhondda Rebels debut in the FIBA Europe Cup for Women ended in defeat in France, the Welsh outfit crashing 71-47 to Reims in their Conference West opener.
Olga Smyrnaiou was the only Rebels player in double figures, scoring a game-high 17 points but it was not enough. The visitors had performed respectably early on and trailed only 19-16 at the first quarter's end.
However the hosts spurted clear at the outset of the second, and a further push in the final period gave the scorelines a one-sided effect.
In the other group tie, Caja Rural Canaria took a 59-49 win over BCSS Dexia Namur.
