Contact UsWilliams realistic after Rhondda reverse
FIBA Cup for Women
Namus 94 Caers 23
Rhondda 63 Lender 27, Goyne 11
Rhondda Rebels slipped to their third straight loss in this season's Conference West, Regional Qualifying Round on Wednesday, losing 94-63 at Dexia Namur.
Despite a game-high 27 points haul from Missy Lender, the Welsh outfit trailed from the early stages and their already slim chances of progressing in the competition have all but disappeared.
Coach Steve Williams, however, was realistic about Rhondda's performances.
"We're progressing against all teams. Even against Namur which is a very strong team. We have to keep learning," he said.
Rhondda trailed by ten points after the opening quarter and Namur's balanced offence guided the hosts into a 53-31 half-time lead.
An event third period kept the Rebels spirits up but there was never any chance of catching up with hot shooting Marie An Caers leading the hosts with 23 points.
Elsewhere in the same group, Reims, who travel to Wales next week, suffered a 82-73 home loss to Canarias.
