Brighton Bears eased
into the quarter-finals of the National Cup with a 99-60 win at
Solent Stars.
Solent led 18-16
with 7:30 gone in the game, but when Brighton netted the last 11 points
of the quarter they were never to look back. A 29-14 second quarter put
the result beyond doubt for the Bears, for whom all ten players got on
the scoresheet. Rico Alderson led the way with 15, whilst Adam Willis and
Alan
McDonald topped
the Stars with 12 each.
"We got the job done
and it was very professional," said Bears centre Wil Johnson whose team
meet Newcastle in the quarter-finals.

hopes with an 80-78 success. Eagles went patiently about building a
lead and by two
minutes into the fourth period they had a 67-55 advantage. Nate
Reinking then set
about dragging his team back into the game, however, hitting 15 of
Sheffield’s final
23 points. His last score was a game-tying three-pointer 20s from
the buzzer, but
TJ Walker secured the quarter-final berth for the Eagles with 5s
left. Niki Arinze
had 25 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Reinking led the Sharks with
21 points.
