National Cup, 1st round
Solent Stars         60         (18,32,43)       (Willis/McDonald 12, Butterworth 9)
Brighton Bears        99         (27,56,80)   (Alderson 15, Davis 14, Seaman 13)

Brighton Bears eased into the quarter-finals of the National Cup with a 99-60 win at
Solent Stars.

Solent led 18-16 with 7:30 gone in the game, but when Brighton netted the last 11 points of the quarter they were never to look back. A 29-14 second quarter put the result beyond doubt for the Bears, for whom all ten players got on the scoresheet. Rico Alderson led the way with 15, whilst Adam Willis and Alan
McDonald topped the Stars with 12 each.

"We got the job done and it was very professional," said Bears centre Wil Johnson whose team meet Newcastle in the quarter-finals.

National Cup, 1st round
Sheffield         78         (24,40,53)         (Reinking 21, Phoenix 19, Williams 15)
Newcastle Eagles        80         (27,47,62)         (Arinze 25, Flournoy/Walker 17)

Newcastle Eagles maintained their 100% start to the season, ending Westfield Sharks
Sheffield’s Cup hopes with an 80-78 success. Eagles went patiently about building a
lead and by two minutes into the fourth period they had a 67-55 advantage. Nate
Reinking then set about dragging his team back into the game, however, hitting 15 of
Sheffield’s final 23 points. His last score was a game-tying three-pointer 20s from
the buzzer, but TJ Walker secured the quarter-final berth for the Eagles with 5s
left. Niki Arinze had 25 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Reinking led the Sharks with
21 points.
