Scottish Phoenix
Mitsubishi Rocks secured their fourth BBL Championship win of the season
in impressive style with a 92-69 success at home to a sub-par Westfield
Sharks Sheffield on Sunday evening.
A close first quarter
saw Rocks leading 19-17, before an 8-0 second quarter burst, which put
them 31-21 to the good. Sharks rallied and seven unanswered points around
the half-time break reduced the deficit to five points at 43-38.
However the Scots
- in a display which coach Kevin Wall termed "our best by far this season"
- stepped up the defence in the second half and Sharks never
got closer than
six points thereafter.
A four-point play
from Ryan Huntley saw the Scottish side lead 68-53 early in the fourth
and there was no way back for Sheffield.
Stephan Sheckles
led all scorers with 24 personal points; Robert Yanders added 16 for the
visitors whose coach Chris Finch described only as "poor".
