Westfield Sharks
Sheffield 113 (25,57,86) (Williams 22, Keeley 20, McKinney/Phoenix 12)
Westfield Sharks
kept alive their hopes of qualification to the semi final stage of the
BBL Trophy defeating the Leicester Riders 113-91 thus ending the Riders
hopes of qualification.
The Sharks took control
of the game with a 11-4 first quarter tear to help them to a 25-14 lead
and with the Riders losing Jamal Faulkner to an eye injury in the first
quarter there was to be no way back for the hosts.
Leicester's Antoine
Sims scored five three pointers on
his way to a game
high 33 points while Dave Keeley continued his fine start for the Sharks
with 20 points.
Scottish Phoenix
Mitsubishi Rocks 78 (25,36,58) (Berry 21, Myers 18, Sheckles 17)
Newcastle Eagles
87 (19,41,67) (Walker 28, Hyatt 22, Smith 16)
Newcastle Eagles
put their injury worries to one side to record a hard fought 87-78 win
over Scottish Phoenix Mitsubishi Rocks to strengthen their claims for a
BBL Trophy semi-final berth.
The Eagles, minus
injured top scorer Nike Arinze, posted a 21-6 tear in the second quarter
to take control at 41-31 and always kept their hosts at arms length for
the remainder of the game, out-working the strangely lacklustre Scots.
Rocks - without absent
coach Kevin Wall - threatened a late comeback with a 7-0 start to the final
quarter leaving them just two points adrift but they could not get any
closer as Charles Smith and Walker combined to pilot the visitors clear.
TJ Walker was on
inspirational form for the Eagles with a game high 28 points.
