Towers 88 (20,39,65) (Dixon 23, Myers 20, Warren 13)
Thames Valley Tigers
moved to within two points of BBL Championship leaders Sheffield thanks
to a 94-88 success over Kinder London Towers on Wednesday night.
The hosts controlled
the first half and secured their biggest lead of the game at 38-27 midway
through the second quarter, following a 12-2 tear.
London rallied and
bagged eight unanswered points early in the third to take the lead at 54-50
but lost John O'Connell to a disqualifying foul in the fourth quarter.
After that, Thames
Valley sealed the win by scoring eight of the final 12 points.
Tigers' Michael Nurse
and Towers' Theo Dixon were joint top scorers with 23 points apiece.
Prior to the contest,
Thames Valley guard Barry Bowman revealed he has decided to put his retirement
on hold and continue to play - a week after he originally opted to quit
due to on-going injuries to both knees.
Tigers’ Head Coach
Paul James said: “Barry has had great support from his team-mates, who
understand that he can’t train a lot because of his knees, but his contribution
in games is still very valuable and retaining him helps maintain our team
chemistry.”
Despite his injury,
Bowman has still been averaging 15.3 points per game and added 16 in the
victory.
