Leopards duo head 98 League greats

Despite the obvious disappointment of missing out on the Wembley Championships, the Leopards club found some consolation in picking up the top prizes at the Budweiser League All-Star Awards, announced in a ceremony at BAFTA in London.

Coach Billy Mims was named as Coach of the Year, reward for taking Leopards to their second successive League championship, while keeping a smile on his face. The award, voted for by members of the British basketball media, saw Mims take a huge percentage of the vote above his peers.

Eric Burks was selected as Budweiser Player in The Year, following in the footsteps of team mate John White, who was last year's victor. The 26 year old American averaged 25.56 points per game this season, second in the league and was in the top ten also in steals and assists. His coach was full of praise for the Georgia native, whom he hopes to re-sign for next season. "With the loss of Ronnie Baker, Eric had to become a point guard for the first time in his career this season and we never really had a back up for him, so he's led the league in minutes played. I think his ability to stay out there and give us the points he did kept us competitive."

Also named was this year's All-Star team line up, featuring the 10 best players of the past season as voted by the 13 coaches.
