Ball leads junior hopefuls East
England junior coach Michael Ball will lead the best of the nations' Under 20 women to Central Europe next week for a month-long tour and training camp which will be used to assess players in preparation for next year's European Young Womens (under 20s) Qualifying Tournament. The English will visit Budapest, Hungary and Ruzomberok, Slovakia from July 29 until August
28."This is the first time to my knowledge that one of our International Squads has had such an intensive summer programme,," states Ball, who will coach NBL Division One side Nottingham Wildcats next season.
"We will be training every day on court together with a fitness/track & field programme and games against Hungarian & Slovak teams. In Slovakia we will be training with the Ruzomberok Junior team and I will be working with their coaches.
"Obviously with Ruzomberok being the reigning European women's champions I want to expose these players to a professional environment to see which of them have what it takes to compete at the highest level within Europe. They are hopeful that there will be a tournament at the end with teams from Slovakia and Poland."
