San Antonio Spurs have embarked upon a NBA charm offensive in Milan ahead
of their Friday night debut at the McDonald's Championship.Holding a press conference on arrival here on Tuesday, the NBA champions were quick to play up the merits of their six challengers. With any failure likely to be a huge embarassment, the message was that we're in Italy to win.
No NBA team has ever lost in the McDonald's tournament so we want to make sure we win," said guard Steve Kerr, a winner two years ago when the Chiacgo Bulls visited Paris. "It is also the beginning of our season and we just started training one week ago and we are preparing for the season that starts next month in November. We are still working on things, trying new things and preparing but we have to come out and play well too."
