Storm knock Bullets out as Jets skip by Bears




Pertemps Bullets Birmingham 87-92 Derby Storm

Derby Storm will play London Towers in the quarter finals of the uniball trophy after their 92-87 victory over the Pertemps Bullets Birmingham eliminated the Bullets.

The Storm turned the tie around in the 3rd quarter posting a 2-14 tear to turn a deficit into a 58-72 advantage, a lead which they were never to relinquish. Storms' Cypheus Bunton led all scorers with 24 points, ex Storm player Yorrick Williams netted 23 for the Bullets.
 

Chester Jets 83 - 76 Brighton Bears

Chester Jets secured their berth in the quarter final stages of the uni-ball trophy with a 83-76 victory over the Brighton Bears on Sunday night.

The Jets, who needed to win by 7 to secure the spot, looked to be in control leading 79-62 after three quarters but had to withstand a late 3 point barrage from the visitors. Jets Greg Francis led all scorers for the hosts with 24 points, while Lormont Sharpe scored 23 for the Bears.
 

adidas London Leopards 113 - 67 Solent Stars

adidas London Leopards secured top spot in Group A of the uniball trophy 
pool stages with a convincing 113-67 success over the Solent Stars.

The Leopards broke clear in a second quarter which saw Solent player coach, Alan Cunningham thrown out the game for receiving his second technical foul. Leopards' Kenya Capers led all scores with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
 

Newcastle Eagles 84 - 97 Manchester Giants

Manchester Giants will face Chester Jets and Newcastle Eagles, Westfield Sharks Sheffield in the quarter finals of the uni-ball trophy after this game decided the placing in Group C.

The Giants finally shook off a resiliant Eagles effort by scoring the opening 9 points of the final quarter. Giants Roy Hairston led all scores in the game with 27 points as his side had to withstand a 2nd quarter 15-2 burst from the Eagles to level the game.

Milton Keynes Lions 79 - 64 Sutton Pumas

Milton Keynes Lions notched up their second victory in the Group C of the uniball trophy pool stages defeating Sutton Pumas 79-64 on Sunday night.

The Lions, who will miss out on qualification to the next round after finishing third, had to withstand a dogged performance by the visiting Pumas but always kept the visitors at arms length. Pumas Roderick Wellington led all scorers on the nights with 23 points.
