Towers blitzed in Yugoslavia

Haribo London Towers fell to a 101-83 defeat in Yugoslavia on Thursday night, playing Group D's second
placed team, Buducnost, in the Euroleague.

Towers fought bravely in the first half - an 2-18 run in the opening quarter saw them leading 13-21.

However, the Yugoslavs fought back to lead by eight points at half time - a lead that they could only extend by a point in the third period.

However, Buducnost turned a 76-69 lead into a 92-73 advantage thanks to a 14-4 tear in the closing stages, that killed off Towers' hopes of an upset.

Milenko Topic was Buducnost's best player, with a game-high 24 points. Randy Duck added 22 for the Towers.

Elsewhere in the group, Barcelona took a 96-84 win over previous leaders Verona, a result which dropped the Italians to third while PAOK took a 73-80 win in Frankfurt, the Skyliners battling well despite the departure of their star import Derrick Taylor.
