Mark Woods is a freelance writer and broadcaster, based in Edinburgh, United KingdomMark Woods

I have been a journalist since 1990 and my work regularly features in several print media outlets including:

I'm also sports editor and presenter at talk107 radio, the only speech station in the UK based outside London. Catch me throughout the week and on Saturday afternoons between 1-5.30pm. I also appear regularly on our sister station talkSPORT.

A load of balls...

Normally each Saturday afternoon, you'll find me talking or writing about football. And in the summer, I head for the green, leafy but often rain-sodden pastures where I cover cricket in print and on radio.

Basketball is a speciality - I formerly edited and published Britball.com, the Internet-only magazine which provided the most comprehensive coverage of the sport in the UK and Ireland, as well as serving as basketball correspondent for a number of British newspapers.

I also write regularly on the National Basketball Association and have contributed to BBC Radio 5 Live and NBA.com. I also work as a studio analyst for Sky Sports television coverage of the NBA.

Having previously worked within the NFL in a public relations role, I am also a keen observer and commentator on American football - and have reported from both Super Bowls and World Bowls. For several years, I trekked across Europe chronicling the ups and (first) downs of the much-lamented but now defunct Scottish Claymores.

Additionally, I frequently cover a range of other sports including athletics, triathlon and baseball, making regular Stateside trips to get the inside track on the wild and often weird world of American sports. My Only in America column ran for several years, chronicling the madness behind the games.

No ball games...

I also provide communications and media training for companies and organisations throughout the UK.

More generally, I also undertake specific copy-writing commissions on request. These have included travel and entertainment publications, website creation, and analytical consultancy on overseas markets.

Outside of sport, I've contributed to publications on export and international trade and am a contributing author of both "Exporting to Scandinavia" and "Exporting to Ireland", published by Kogan Page in 1998. I also write on the business of sport and on small business issues.

Hitting the road with a notebook and pen, I have completed a series of travel features based on my enlivening experiences of journeying around the world.

I am fluent in Spanish and French.
